The Town of Washington Park, population 451, is located on the Pamlico River in Beaufort County, halfway between Raleigh and the Outer Banks. It is a historic bedroom community adjacent to the City of Washington, population 10,000, the county seat.
The town, incorporated in 1923, is a quiet single-family residential community. Washington Park has a full range of urban services in next door Washington: health care, hospital, waterfront downtown, recreation, cultural, and governmental offices. Washington Park is a built-out community of 212 homes. Only 12 lots remain unbuilt. The town has a beautiful waterfront park. Next to the Town hall is RA Dunston Park with tennis courts and the kiddie tot lot. A mix of old houses, new houses, old families, and new families, gives Washington Park a close-knit character that is special.
